Creative Curriculum studies are driven by student interest. We observe the students and pinpoint topics that will be engaging for them. We plan our activities to be inquiry-based so that students begin developing their problem solving and critical thinking skills. Our room is divided into interest areas - blocks, library, music and movement, art, dramatic play, toys and games, discovery, computers, and the sand and water table. As we plan and carry out a study we add and remove items from those interest areas to fit the topic or to encourage certain skill development.
The students have been learning about pets through stories, discussions, activities, dramatic play, and a visit to a real veterinary clinic. Thank you to the Dyersville Veterinary Clinic for a great field trip!
